Forgiveness (2022)

“Forgiveness” is a collaborative video piece between myself and Isaiah Acosta. After learning we both had Christian fathers, we set out to explore this joint connection within a video project. The video piece is a split screen visual poem riffing on forgiveness, constraint, release, and youth. Isaiah and I were interested in how the religions we were both peripherally raised in created a landscape of restraint for our childhoods, and how this interrupted and intersected with the playfulness of youth.

The piece was displayed in the Fall 2022 UC Berkeley Art Practice Honors show, “Forgiving the Forgotten.” It was exhibited alongside a burnt pew by Isaiah Acosta titled “Pew.”
